Description

Produced by the family-run Bertrand-Delespierre estate in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, Enfant de la Montagne ("Child of the Mountain") is a Premier Cru Champagne that beautifully captures the character of four renowned villages: Chamery, Écueil, Villedommange and Montbré. Crafted from all three classic Champagne grape varieties and incorporating around 40% reserve wines, this Extra Brut cuvée delivers precision, depth and remarkable consistency. Extended lees ageing and minimal dosage allow the terroir to shine through with purity and elegance.

Tasting Notes

Bright golden straw with a persistent stream of fine bubbles.

Nose
Fresh citrus, white flowers and orchard fruits intertwine with subtle notes of toasted brioche, roasted nuts and crushed stone minerality.

Palate
Lively and energetic with flavours of green apple, grapefruit, lemon zest and ripe pear. The palate combines freshness, texture and tension, supported by a chalky mineral backbone and delicate autolytic complexity.

Finish
Long, precise and refreshingly dry, leaving lingering notes of citrus, saline minerality and fine pastry.

Olivier's Thoughts

This is exactly the style of grower Champagne I love introducing to customers. It offers all the refinement and complexity people expect from Champagne, but with a personality that many large houses simply cannot replicate. The low dosage gives it real precision, while the reserve wines bring depth and generosity. If you're looking for a Champagne that showcases terroir rather than branding, Enfant de la Montagne is a superb example and exceptional value within the Premier Cru category. It works equally well as a celebratory aperitif or throughout a fine meal
