Domaine Pardon & Fils – Fleurie Vieilles Vignes

Grape Variety

  • 100% Gamay

Description

Produced by the family-owned Domaine Pardon & Fils in the heart of Beaujolais, this Fleurie Vieilles Vignes comes from old Gamay vines planted on the granite-rich slopes of the renowned lieu-dit Les Labourons. Often referred to as the most elegant and floral of the Beaujolais Crus, Fleurie is celebrated for combining finesse with concentration. The old vines bring additional depth and complexity, while the granitic soils contribute freshness, purity and distinctive floral aromatics.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby red with vibrant purple highlights.

Nose
Highly expressive with aromas of ripe raspberry, blackberry and blackcurrant, complemented by delicate notes of violet and subtle spice.

Palate
Silky, generous and beautifully balanced. Layers of red and black berry fruits are supported by supple tannins and a touch of spice. The old vines provide excellent concentration while retaining the elegance and charm that Fleurie is famous for.

Finish
Long, smooth and floral, with lingering notes of ripe berries, violets and soft spice.

Olivier's Thoughts

This is exactly why Fleurie is often called the most elegant of the Beaujolais Crus. It has all the juicy fruit and approachability that Gamay lovers enjoy, but with an extra layer of refinement that comes from the old vines and granite soils. The floral notes of violet are unmistakable and give the wine a real sense of identity. If you're looking for a red wine that's lighter than many Bordeaux yet still packed with character, this is a fantastic choice. I particularly enjoy serving it slightly cool alongside charcuterie, roast poultry or a cheeseboard. It is one of those wines that is incredibly easy to enjoy yet sophisticated enough to impress even seasoned wine drinkers.
